Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJnAVX8J6Yk
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0awfGysP3-Q That's Scissor Shock's set from the other day; we have tons of our stuff on VHS but this was the first one filmed by someone with a camera capable of putting directly onto the internet. Technology! Anyway, this was from Oct 22nd in Bloomington, Indiana at the Cinemat with 4k (a guy with a contact mic'd drill and contact mic'd cinder block going at it) and noisehardcore legends Hentai Lacerator (who I think also got filmed; they were great! I hope their shit gets posted on youtube). Hurry up and watch it and leave stupid comments before Porky replies, "YOU ADVERTISE YOUR BAND TOO MUCH!" |

Hahaha.
No, that's just my style!... but.. you know what's really odd? I was just learning to play that song the other day (I couldn't figure out a few of the notes) -- like, literally, two days before that show. I'm thinking of doing a ukelele cover of it for a scissor shock covers album. Heh. Shit like that (weird coincedences) happens to me all the time. |

Yeah, actually it's a pretty common (not as in boring or too predictable) "mono string" kind of riff. Pretty nice vids, I like better part.2 . How was the audience?

Yeah, the whole idea was to play these two really fast, noisey songs and then play a really long, slow song. It's funny, there are a few fuckups, but it actually sounds pretty much like I had planned it to. (though we end the second song a few seconds early, which I noted haha)
The audience was surprisingly receptive and friendly. I mean, this was a college town, which I love (hot smart Asian chicks + people with open minds = me happy). Playing in my hometown or.. some OTHER towns (we're not a bar band)... results in people walking out after a few minutes or people yelling insults. I have a few videos of that, one where someone yelled, "WHY THE FUCK'S THERE A DRUM MACHINE COULDN'T FIND A DRUMMER? FUCKING TECHNO BULLSHIT" Which was funny, cuz the dude was wearing a Ministry shirt (though it was "Dark Side of the Spoon" so who knows...)! Here, everyone was really happy and 75% of the crowd (it wasn't a big crowd, but...) asked me for CD's afterwards. Which is even funnier, because I didn't bother bringing any CD's since the last few shows, no one bought any! Hahaha. Strange. It made me very happy, though, to know that -- while my home town may be full of close-minded folks who only care about girlpants bands -- I can travel 20 minutes into another town and have an amazing time with some awesome people with open minds. Excellent. |

My present audience are the crickets in my basement.
They sound pretty receptive too coz they stop making noises as soon as i start playing. ha ha. No, seriously, my project is born (and will most likely be raised) as a no-live-shows kind of thing. I had fun playing live with my ex-band, but this time (being mainly solo stuff) no live. I need to put together a decent site or something just to share stuff, and maybe send out some "real" copies. But first, guess I need to record something decent hah a. I never played a gig in my hometown, now that I think about "going to another city" to play...weird, but not too weird since all my bandmates are from a city 50km away from here and we had a practice space there. So yeah, I was the "foreign one". Sorry for the pointless rant.

My biggest problem, being a little band not funded by any kind of label, is definitely traveling to other places -- driving all that way, carrying all that shit in, setting up for forever, and then the people in the audience probably not caring at all. I mean, I watch EVERY BAND, even if I don't like them, if I know they traveled at all (if they're just some local KoRn-covering band, fuck 'em) -- I want to give them respect, even if they don't give me any. On the bright side, I've met a lot of cool-ass people.
I actually DON'T enjoy playing live at all, but ... people want me to, so I do. Haha. It was one of those things I thought I'd really like, but then when I actually did it 100 times, I was like, "Wow..." It kinda gets old. Though I guess I'd rather do it than stocking shelves like I do at my other job.. heh. Good luck with your project and thanks for watching these vids! I haven't even seen them yet, since I'm currently on dialup at my house and it takes forever to load them. |

Jokes aside, i haven't got the time to watch it right now as I'm off in 5 minutes, but I'll try watching them another day. |

Dollars are good!
I went and saw Polysics last night. They were great. I'm seeing Melt Banana this Tuesday. Can't wait. |
