I know some of you on the board use them and I would appreciate any feedback. I'm interested in purchasing an affordable yet decent and easy-to-use one but I know almost nothing about them. So... What do you use? How much was it? What should I buy just to get started? Etc., go wild. Thank you.

Thank you, very cool link. I think I'm going to busy with that for awhile. I was just reading about the history of drum machines on wikipedia.

The Alesis SR-16 is a good unit. I got mine for about 80.
Here is why I chose it: ease of programming (super easy) 4 outputs footswitch for fill and start/stop (start stop is really the important one, I never use the fill footswitch) A bunch of sounds midi pressure sensitive pads the SR-16 has a lot of the features that are on newer drum machine models, and since it is 15 years old or so, you can pick them up cheap. |

Thx
I'm trying to figure out how to make good non-live recordings. Haven't figured it out yet. |
