The AP is reporting that Estelle Bennett, original member of girl group legends The Ronettes (and sister of Ronnie Bennett/Spector) passed away on Wednesday at the age of 67 at her home in New Jersey. The cause of death has not been reported.
Estelle and the rest of The Ronettes rose to prominence under the tutelage of Phil Spector, who perfected his "Wall of Sound" sonics while working with the group. The Ronettes' biggest hit was "Be My Baby," and their version of "Sleigh Ride" has become a Christmas radio staple. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. http://www.prefixmag.com/news/rip-es...onettes/26068/ |
