I just started The Great Shark Hunt and I plan to re-read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas next. I haven't read that one in years, since before I saw the movie...
Obviously By God you can tell I'm a fan. |

Great book, decent if overblown and tiresome film.

I love the book as well as the film. I've read most of f&l on the campaign trail but I didn't understand alot seen as it was way before my time.
Rum Diary is the only other one I've read and it's brilliant. It made me wanna jump on a plane and go live somewhere else. It's supposed to be released as a film next year with Johnny Depp but it will probably get delayed again. Anyway I really recommend it. |

Really! I'm a big fan of Depp and Gilliam but I can't say that F&L is one of thier better efforts. I see they are working together again on something called The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus |

Hells Angels - analysis of societies ultimate dropouts, Hunter spent a year with them to write this.
Fear & Loathing in the Campaign Trail '72 - Hunter covers the 1972 presidential elections. Consider it the gonzo companion to Timothy Crouses serious The Boys on the Bus. Gonzo Papers, Vol. 1: The Great Shark Hunt: Strange Tales from a Strange Time - a collection of Hunters earlier serious journalism, the first piece of gonzo "The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved", and Rolling Stone pieces.
Curse of Lono - never could figure out what this was about. The Rum Diary - The Great Gatsby in 1950s San Juan. They're what I've read.

The Kentucky Derby is Both Decadent and Depraved is such a brilliant piece of writing. Probably one of my favorite Gonzo pieces by him.
