I've returned to da islands after a lengthy absence and wanted to share some photos. Hope this isn't too narcisistic (sp?) to have a WHOLE separate thread..but I hope to add several as time goes on.
Here's some for now. The house and the cabin I'm caretaking for on the Waianae Range. I hike on the trail on the ridge above the cabin about 1/2 mile away. The photo looking down is toward Nanakuli on the west side of Oahu from the ridge and the mountain shows the peak (Palikea) I hiked to. This place is up behind 2 locked gates with very exclusive access. I'm very fortunate to have such friends.

my friend just made a temporary move to hawaii to "sort shit out."
either it will result in peace and tranquility or hawaii's worst drug habit ever. .....speaking of which, how's bad is the meth down there?

Here's a couple more...
The one with the waves is Makapuu, my favorite beach on Oahu. I prefer the waves at Sandy Beach..but the beauty of Mak is unreal ! The one with all the people on the rocks is Waimea Bay on the North Shore. This is where the HUGE waves are surfed in the winter...google "waimea bay shorebreak" if you want to see what it looks like during it's prime season... A buddy of mine sailed into the bay and I swam out to meet him and partied on the boat for awhile..that was fun ! The other pic is from the knifedge ridge above the cabin looking back toward Honolulu and Pearl Harbor. The soil out is is, of course, all volcanic so it has that surreal red quality... I'm going crazy with my connection. It just took me 40 minutes to upload 3 pics to my photobucket and post here..fuckin' DIALUP !!!

A few more and I'm done for now...this is taking forever...
One is part of the trail. Since the Nature Conservancy occasionally comes up here, they've put in steps on some steeper sections. And another is Makapuu again from some cliffs adjacent to the beach. Then the other is a wildass flower along the trail. I don't know what it is but it's pretty big and very cool.
