I wanna get one of these two, but sound quality is really most important...
Also considered Mid-Fi's Random Number Generator, but it seems like it'd be easier just to get the Blue Box becuz it's easier to find and cheaper... Anyone have any thoughts to share on these or any other wacked-out pedals? |

I have a Blue Box, and did the mod (simply clipping out one of the capacitors) and it sounds way better that way - more trebly and cuts through better than before. I like it, but don't really use it much in a band setting.
My friend is gonna buy a Glitch Computer soon...Never tried one, but my impression is that it does similar sounds and more than the Blue Box - of course at more than twice the price. The sound samples make me want one. I'll wait til my friend buys his to judge. He has the Pitch Pirate, and I really wasn't that impressed with it for the price. |

My Blue Box sucks ass. Something to do with the power. I spent £60 on it too.

Mid-fi is coming out with a newer cheaper pedal soon...sounded cool. Kind of a clipping overdrive.

Could you do that? You can PM me if you want, or just post them here or a link or something... Also, has anyone had any experience with the Boss XT-2 Xtortion pedal? Most people seem to love or hate these...supposedly it sucks as a distortion pedal but is good for harsh texturing...I've lusted over these since I saw one in a music store years ago...something about the name and the metallic red color was just so awesome to me... |

It makes is a little more trebly - less muddy. It sounds much better to me with the mod - I wouldn't have bought it from my friend how it originally was. The mod takes about a minute tops.

It's not unbearably trebly - i could post some samples of my modded one when i have a chance. Even if you did the mod, you could resolder the capacitor back in if you didn't like it.

you can apply a switch, so you can turn the mod off and on.

The higher the note, the better it tracks. I'd probably like it more if it was only an octave down instead of two.

the blue box is so nasty that I love it..It's mechanical! I play it even with a moog sinth and it could be cool but you have to be carefull with freq cause it could dont sound at all ....I like to play it just with the 'blend' pot completely closed and sink it into an echo or let it circle into a sweet phasing or flanger (interesting in stereo) but it's definitely great at a quite loud volume for me. Good even to stoned any drum rhythms....
