Our first release is in a few weeks, and we should have some more releases later on. Starting with 0 money, recording an 5 song EP on my 4 track burning a bunch of CDs, putting it in cool little cardboard+ paper + glue and tape + stenciling packaging, and selling it in order to buy more CD-Rs.
The first release will be The Spectral Presence EP- Is This a Test? I have a rough version of the title track up on my myspace. I've got the bass and drums down on the first 3 songs, doing guitar tomorrow, and perhaps vocals. I'm recording the guitar and drum machine parts all down in my basement which has all stone walls and has a great feel for both of those. Doing bass DI, and doing the vocals in my attic which has a big arch ceiling and really great acoustics. |

I did all of the above (well I taught myself to play the drums instead of using a drum machine, as they have no soul). It is beyond rewarding, to put out your own music, and sit back and listen to the tape. Its like seeing and aspect of yourself from the outside, the way other people see you, or in this case, hear you. though my advice, it is much easier to DIY distribute on the internet then to pass out discs. You are more likely to get a positive response and actual listening ears, because the nature of the internet is voluntary, more people who come to your website will actually listen, then will people who you randomly distribute CD-Rs to on the street. This is from experience....

Oh, I post a bunch of stuff on myspace and soundclick and stuff. I want something that I can take to shows with me and sell to people at a small price that is a bit higher quality than the MP3s on myspace and is somewhat mastered so that it has sort of an albumy feel to it. I already have a tentative tracklisting: Is This a Test? Was It Calculated? Friendly Fire Isn't Com Dialogue Here is the cover art (going to stencil it on) |
