I had a whole synthpop obsession from about the age of 10 through 14, so yes, they're great. Though I don't listen to them as much anymore and I have no idea what any of Almond's solo stuff sounds like. I did see a vid of him singing with Antony a few years ago and it was god-awful.

So much love for Soft Cell and Marc. The Marc and the Mambas LPs are incredible.
I love how he made a mark with that huge hit, basically got set for life and then followed a career trajectory of very commercially risky material for decades.
I saw him once and it was wonderful.

"Metro MRX" off the Mutant Moments EP is a cold masterpiece.

Marc Almond once helped a friend of mine out of some awful shit. That and the talent involved ( I LOVE HIS POP STUFF IN THE EARL'S COURT
80S) make him a hero.

Non-stop erotic cabaret is one of those records that's far too peculiar to be a 'pop' pop album. And electro torch songs! Who could dislike them?
