Not getting sentimental, just feels like a job someone has to do.
Hey, Kurt, thanks for making Presidents' Day awkward for everyone. I'm not saying "happy birthday," but I will be listening to "Aneurysm," "Sappy," "Dive," "I Hate Myself..." and "Serve the Servants" today. Probably all of In Utero if I'm being honest. Eh? |

Just giving Bleach a whirl for the first time in an age. They'll always be one of the few bands I can go back to and still love.

Same here. Blasted the 2013 mix of In Utero. "Sappy" and "I Hate Myself..." both sound so goddamn good. Every year I feel a little bit differently about Kurt Cobain. I'm quite a bit older than he ever lived to be, but he felt like such a kindred spirit when I was young. Now he feels more and more like a child and a scumbag and a shitty, irresponsible father. Still... BOY did that band kick some fucking ass. Looking back, virtually all of their "contemporaries" (outside of the Year Punk Broke circle) seem like stupid ass little jokes. But every one of their albums still just pummels. |

That In Utero remaster is the best. Tried to recreate that exact sound in my band because to me that's the pinnacle of what a rock record could sound like.

yeah. I'd agree. And I love the sound. Just fucking love it. It really is an improvement on the '93 master. I also love having the songs transition seamlessly into the album quality non-album tracks, like the aforementioned "Sappy," "I hate myself...," "Marigold." The 2013 mix sounds right at home next to other Albini masterpieces from the era like Rid of Me and For Respect. Fucking aces, man. |
