Lo-fi garage(y) rock stuff. Preferably new (I seriously know next to nothing about anything coming out these days), but old stuff works as well.

Not new at all, but I still really enjoy to spin these every once and a while:
Human Eye - They Came From The Sky http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXT8ITrPVV0 What was the name of the singer/guitarist? Timmy Vulgar or something like that. Give his solo records a try, good stuff too. Wounded Lion - IVXLCDM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENceZfCJFk0 |

Heliotropes. These chicks from Brooklyn rock about as hard as any chicks have rocked since Dig Me Out. Perhaps harder! http://heliotropes.bandcamp.com/

some of my favourites from last year:
Banque Allemande - Willst Du Chinese Sein Musst Du Die Ekligen Sachen Essen https://soundcloud.com/banquealleman...ese-sein-musst Cuntz - Aloha (mentioning it again in this thread because it's awesome) http://homelessrecords.bandcamp.com/album/aloha Bad Vision - s/t http://badvision.bandcamp.com/album/...ssette-digital Mordecai - College Rock https://soundcloud.com/testostertunes-1 I guess from these Mordecai fits the lo-fi garage(y) label best, but they're all good. |

You can stream the entire Banque Allemande album on their soundcloud in the link. I much prefer it over their first record. Schwarz vor Schwarzer Wand and Warmes Wasser are my favourite tracks.

I think Dumb Numbers first album from the last year is more grunge than garage, but anyway I have liked it a lot. It´s very variable, b-side is really etheric.

Thanks, I'll give it a listen. A while ago I got Obnox's ''Corrupt Free Enterprise'', which has been a grower for me. Songs like ''Ciara'' sounded sort of goofy to me at first, like The Darkness if they started recording themselves badly and listened to Pussy Galore and The Cheater Slicks. I now play the record regularly and there isn't even a single song on it that I managed to memorise so far. |

John Wesley Coleman is the sort of musician I always imagine Sway would like.

This band is great. Really enjoying Blank Realm. ... For some reason I find it nevessary to mention Radio Birdman in this thread: https://myspace.com/theofficialradiobirdman. Also, some of this newer shit isn't half bad. Check out Milk Music, who are possibly a bit more traditional, Meat Puppets/Replacements inspired indie rock, but really fucking good nonethess. White Fence, the frequent Ty Segall collaborators, are not to be missed either. And of course there's Thee Oh Sees, the preeminent garage rock band of the era, who really do continuously manage to make captivating and exciting variations on the genre. But I'm pretty sure everybody knows about them at this point. And ditto on Heliotropes. |

as this thread attests, can't really go wrong with anything coming out of aus at the moment: cuntz, exhaustion, constant mongrel, ooga boogas, uv race, useless children, kitchen's floor, taco leg (mmmmm), ecsr, twerps and dick diver on the cleaner side, bed wettin bad boys..... to me though the best by far are: total control http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMTe-L5gFHU blank realm (so strange to consider how far these guys have come) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BdVJ0dC3IE the stickmen (old but still cool) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THcjCm2Wyzk then of course outside of this arsehole of the earth you have parquet courts, tyvek, oh sees.....real fertile choonage right now. |
