So because they are now officially dirt cheap, we finally bought a Gamecube and eight games this weekend.
We're planning on buying a couple more this weekend, does anyone suggest particular games that they have experience of? We both love driving/race games, plus a bit of sport, puzzle and shooting. Nothing that you have to play for hours at a time though.

Well we bought everything pre-owned (all with full guarantee): Console, two official controllers, official memory card, eight games. All for about £120, which is pretty good value. The shop we went to do a used console, controller and two games for £43. Dirt cheap, really. It's about £10 to 15 euros I think. Do you have euros in Belgium now?

i've a gamecube, if your into sports games check out the Mario Range, Mario Smash football/Mario Golf/Mario Tennis, these are cool litte games with a Mario twist, (i.e in Mario football you can collect powerups and use em on the other team, you can drop banna skins so they trip up of knock em out with a turtle shell) this is a good laugh when your playing with your friends, the golf game is good fun also..
Need for Speed Most wanted - good car racing game, pick a car, mod it up anyway you like and race it against the computer - the upshot been half way thru the race the cops start chasing after you and you must avoid getting nicked or else your car will get impounded and you pay X amount of money to get it out.. Resident evil 4 - great game, very very good, shooting zombies to save the girl blah blah blah you know yourself, great graphics and well done, you could be walkin in total silence for a few minutes and BANG! a zombie will come out and freak the shit out of you, streets ahead of all the other resident evil games. Any Zelda game, although these fall into the bracket of "Nothing that you have to play for hours at a time though." i've got a PS2 and a Gamecube and i'd be hard pushed to pick a favorite between the two, you wont go wrong with Nintendo, they are fun fun fun all the way

Thanks fishmonkey. I got the Gamecube because I've always liked Nintendo - I think they understand best that gaming should be about fun.
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 is one that we bought and I like it a lot, so I'll check out the other one - do you know if there's enough difference to justify buying both? The teo Mario ones sound good too. Resident Evil and Zelda probably demand more time than I would spend on them - I like to play for just 10 or 20 minutes at a time. Thanks.

yeah, its worth buying, i found Hot Pursuit was a bit boring, Most Wanted is good, a lot of the racing is done during the day (which is nice - cuz in hot pursuit it seemed to be all nighttime all the time) Most Wanted is a good sequel - if your into playing 10/20 minutes at a time the Mario Sports ones are a good investment, good with a few friends over, few beers and a few games, get a tournament going you know yourself, its a lot of laughs

'1080' Snowboarding and F-Zero are the best racing games on Gamecube in my opinion. F-Zero is sooooo fast! and the tracks are all mad like a fucked up roller coaster! Snowbaording has excellent track design too, and you can get right into trying to beat peoples times and scores.
Dont touch Mario Kart! Even if you loved the Snes/N64 ones, the GC one is utter shite. Totally boring courses, just not the same. All games you can just whack in and play though. I agree on Resident Evil 4, i love that game to death! |

the gamecube as a console kicks both the xbox's ass for being an inferior machine yet being twice as better in pretty much everything (sound, graphics, playability, etc.)

I'd have to disagree with you there.
