I was thinking of you last night. You like The Roots a lot. Which you should. But I know you like THINGS FALL APART a lot. How do you feel about say "I Got You," considering the hook by Erykah Badu and yr hatred for R&B? Likewise, how do you feel about "Break You Off" from Phrenology? I mean, the drumming on those two are unreal. And yet, it's got the R&B hook. What about "The Notic" off of ILLADELPH HALPHLIFE? Maybe the best storytelling track of their career, but I know you loath D'Angelo. What say you?

Renne Russo left the shower satisfied.
- I love the Roots. They kick out the jams. I GOT YOU is a dope song, which I had to get used to. I really wish that hip hop had remained a NO SINGING zone, and a NO CHORUS zone. Phrenology is a hit or miss for me. I do not get off on the tender slo jams. illadelph halflife can do no wrong, and the Rhythm & Bullshit aspects are easily ignored by me. Much respect to the Roots though.

word. The Roots are amazing. Always. They were my first concert experience. On the DO YOU WANT MORE tour no less! Back when they still had Malik B and Rahzel and still did the HIP HOP 101 medley. Amazing.

ps, I think PHRENOLOGY is a very brave and awesome album. I mean, it's got that weird hardcore song. It's got that weird freejazz track that's almost a nod to VU's "Heroin," it's got drumnbass influenc on "Break You Off," it's got the rock on "The Seed 2.0", etc etc etc. Great album. Very slept on me thinks.
I heard their next album is going to contain a cover of FZ's "Peaches En Regalia," which might just be the best thing I'll ever hear.

seriously. That song is a mind blower. To hear them do it would just be incredible. And I love the idea that there might be some kids that only listen to hip hop that might be unknowingly exposed to Frank Zappa. ...but then again, "the jar is under the bed."
