I've been hearing about this for 5 years now. Is it really happening now?! Eh, fuck it, , I don't care either way... I'm sure it'll just use the original idea of a girl going to a school run by witches and have little else in common with the original. You know what, though? It'll probably still be better than most of the shit Argento has released lately...
Not a huge Suspiria fan anyway -- definitely one of my least favorite Argento films, aside from the oversaturated colors and the opening death. Never understand the love for it, really (DEFINITELY don't understand the love for the awful "Inferno"). If they ever touch Deep Red or Tenebre, though, they can fuck off. |

Stendhal Syndrome, Trauma, his half of Two Evil Eyes (the Romero half is probably the worst movie I've ever seen, though, but Romero sucks period), The Third Mother (arguably; it was entertaining, if RETARDED) are all cool.
Though Opera is the last great thing he's done, and that was in 88 so I'm inclined to agree. |

I love Argento. He is one of the "truest" (for lack of a better word) directors I can think of, making film after film after film of horror. It's not all good horror, but how many other directors can say that every film they've made (except for one) -- and he's made TONS of films -- is all based in the same genre, the only genre that interests him apparently? And they're all radically different films, too, which I find really interesting. He hasn't shown much growth as a director, but when your first 4 films (the Animal Trilogy and Deep Red) are that great -- well, shit, what more needs to be said? Also, he had some involvement in Santa Sangre by Jodorowsky, and Once Upon a Time in the West by Leone.. two of my all time favorite films. Also, his daughter is hot as fuck.
Argento <3 I'm going to put on some G oblin right now. |

Whoa, it says the guy who did Pineapple Express will be doing this? Considering Pineapple Express is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, I'm guessing this will be equally big, dumb, and dull.

This is going to be one hell of a suckfest. It's like those clowns who re-made "The Wicker Man" and "Last House On The Left". Even my hero Werner Herzog is getting in on the act, but at least he has the excuse of being genuinely bonkers.

I don't think Bad Lieutenant's a remake, it's a reboot of the franchise, they're going to be doing many more films with "Bad Lieutenant" in the title if this is successful.

^^^Tis true, asp, but I'd question Herzog's working with human plank Nicholas "Suckjob" Cage...

Well, I don't think Herzog has made anything that great in nearly 30 years. He's a pretty consistently good director, though I don't really get into his documentaries (besides, like, Fata Morgana.. if that even counts). Nicolas Cage does suck shit, but he's hilarious in Deadfall, Vampire's Kiss, Wild at Heart, and various other films. I bet it'll be a fun film, though giving it the "Bad Lieutenant" (one of the best films ever, by far) title wasn't a very good move...

Once Nick Cage won that oscar for Leaving Vegas he's gone downhill to the depths where Tommy Cruise and Keanu Reeves live. It's been all down hill for both of those two.
The only time I ever enjoyed Cruise was the Outsiders and Reeves Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure

i thought nicolas cage was great in adaptation, he's good he more comedic roles i guess. when he tries to act serious it just seems corny.
my copy of suspiria got stolen (along with metropolis), the best thing about that film is the bit where the automatic door closes as she's leaving the airport at the begining, that's not to say i didn't like the rest of it. |

I read about the remake years ago, but I also remember reading it got cancelled... I don't care if it goes ahead or not, I won't be watching it anyway. There's nothing wrong with the original.

I love Suspiria. I didnt give two fucks about the plot, and it didnt even try to be interesting, did it? But the film had some quality moments. Dont tell me it doesnt make sense to have a room full of barbed wire. It was fucking awesome when she fell into it. And it's just got that feel to it, not unlike Opera (which I agree with asp, is amazing).
Wait...the director taking it on did Pineapple Express?!?!?!?! Haha..ha. |
