.....the ever-fabulous Alan McGee has made his first address to the nation in 2009, and here we have his "must listen" musical suggeestions for 2009:

I of course am a mere serf, and in no way am able to comment on the choices made by the Fabulous One. However, I do note that his pronouncements on The Grants has just blown up my Cliche-o-meter.

kool; our son is driving us kind of mad . Soon to be 2 (March), he's becoming somewhat of a mischievous little troll these days, laying down flat on the floor screaming (it's like listening to Merzbow or SY's TV SHIT all day long) everytime he's contradicted. The hard way to learn who the boss is in da house (eg ME).

phew. thanks melly. I was worried there for a bit. Glad that Sir Alan is around to put things straight. Any chance of digging up a quote from Zane Lowe, just to reassure us all about global warming?

Not quite, but I can dig up this quote:

"Most of the bands I work with I get on with, or end up getting on with. I tell you who was a fucking nightmare - Nick Cave [who gave Zane a legendarily hard time on the Culture Show]. He was really fucking hard work. It was like being told off for half an hour. He was perfectly pleasant at the start and the end, but I arrived with an idea of what I thought the [Grinderman] record was trying to say. He disagreed from the outset so I think any trust he had in me went out the window immediately. He was pretty outright nasty to me, but I don't judge people's music on their ability to answer questions."
