Chances are you've probably never heard of Sven Libaek, Norwegian born Australian Pianist/composer of orchestral jazz music. Sven Libaek & his Orchestra composed the scores to a large number of Australian TV documentary's during the late 60's early 70's. His music to this day is still largely out of print, having disappeared into various Australian library archives over the years, and alot of the original master tapes to his albums were either lost or destroyed. Recently, many efforts have been made to restore his library of music on CD. So far only two of his recordings ( Innerspace, and Solar Flares ) have been restored and reprinted on cd. You can download most of the others here
http://pecksspetrips.blogspot.com/search?q=sven+libaek Why is this worth checking out? It's brilliant. His music works on so many levels. It's ideal to listen to outdoors or indoors, and it's perfect for going to sleep. It's atmospheric, mellow, at times triumphant, and beautiful. Lots of liquidy vibraphones, mellow jazz flute tones, and bubbly synthesizers. This music is amazing, some of my favorite in the world. Some people may claim this is muzak, but there are too many synth, reverb and guitar elements to classify it as elevator music. Unfortunately, his two best: Innerspace and Solar Flares aren't on the blogsite. In fact you can only buy them from european record sites, but they are completely worth it. Just figured I'd share some unique and rare music. Fans of jazz, classical, Zappa's instrumental music, even electronic stuff like like Aphex Twin are bound to love this |
