FUCK HER, D'arcy was in the smashing Pumpkins for 12 years! She was only her replacement for like 1 year. Melissa the eternal replacement.

Yes but as a musician myself I really think Melissa was better and had more stage presence. D'arcy often sang out of tune when she did backing vocals. I have to admit she had some brilliant bass lines on the albums though. |

I am a big fan of the first four albums, but nothing after.
In order of preference: 1. Adore (Love, love, fucking love this album) 2. Gish (A very close second, 'Rhinoceros' may have been my favorite childhood song) 3. Mellon Collie (Sooo many good pop rock songs found here. Some real shit too, but that's what the skip button is for) 4. Siamese Dream (good stuff, but my least listened to) *Sorry to the Pumpkin/Corgan haters for resurrecting this thread, but a friend of mine who keeps playing their awful new release inspired me to go back and listen to the earlier stuff. |

Actually, zeigeist is really good. Having said that, their best album is Siamese Dream.

Rushed? Actually it's got lots of energy and verve, it reminds me of Sonic Nurse in the way that it exudes energy and spirit. But it does tend to sound kind of thematic after a while. Which may or may not be a good thing...

I love the Judas O (b sides) collection that came with The Greatest Hits, for Set The Ray To Jerry and Here's To The Atom Bomb and a few others (one with a sitar?).
I like all of them... even Zeitgeist (there's at least three great songs on there)!. Melon Collie is probably my favourite. |

Ahh... Siamese Dream what great memories with this album I got kicked out my house when I was 17 I got my friends house after walking from one end of the city to another & that's what was playing when I got there. I left for Job corps a few months afterwards my friend was going awol & needed money so I bought his tape. One of my ex's is a huge fan she was all about some pumpkins @ the time & so is my sister. I stopped caring about them after Mel. now I really never play them but the memories are there & that what I think is great about music.

the smashing pumpkins music (even if your not a early 90s kid) has feeling of romantised youth and nostagia. i dont know what it is but siamese dream is the perfect example of this.

the first side og gish and a couple of tracks of siamese dream. the rest can fuck right off with their sabbath influenced sugar coated grumge for rich kids... awful band. totally overrated and totally crap. the worst band ive evr seen live and corgan is the biggest prick ive ever met in my entire life! james iha on the other hand was a true gentleman. sorry to ran on the pumpkin parade but i really have a dislike for them. how can a band that wrote a song like i am one end up releasing such claptrap and then reform (kind of) and release that bollocks called zeitgeist..... i mean it makes the zwan album look palatable!
