on mirrored, they finally step out of don cab's shadow, musically speaking.
there's one thing happening though, there's a backlash going on. |

The whole album is now up on their myspace page. And mighty fine it is too. I prefer the album to the eps also. As previously mentioned they really sound dated against the more recent stuff. |

well, not huge (i edited that part out), but a lot of people now think of them as poppy indie rock designed for hipsters because most hipsters have embraced mirrored and, because of that, a lot of people think they are ironic, fashion concious, retro ripping off know it alls on par with the arctic monkeys and what have you.
which is very stupid, of course. |

Ah, now I understand.
Mbah, methinks that most of the people sayin' that couldn't list/hear half of the different sounds that you can hear in many parts of "mirrored". Just check that frickin' live at the empty bottle vid, they're an organic machine..

No you're not, but you can't see me, I'm standind in the opposite corner. I like the first two songs then can't go much farther. I saw them two days ago at a festival. The machine part of it is a cause for my not appreciating the whole thing that much. Stanier is impressive, but his pals spend so much time adjusting this and that that I had the feeling they could have checked their emails during the show. It was as if they were saying, wait a minute, it's good now, but see what it's gonna be in a minute once I've done this invisible-to-you thing. A fan (already seen them 4 times) said the voice puzzled him, as if it was smurfs singing along. I found it funny, but that's the voice, or the fact there's some singing that I liked the most, as there was some connection with the audience. Which has importance to me. This said, treating sound the way they do is something I can understand if can't relate to the result. |

The effects on the voice, annoy me. I don't think I can go further. But the music is badass, too bad they ruined it with the voice effects. I think I will now go listen to Dinosaur Jr.
edit- but don't hold me to that. I will eventually get to them. |

Saw them play live a few months ago. They were really intense at first,
then got a little repetative, then came together in the end. Still a great gig though. Loved the tall cymbal!
