konono no. 1

caught konono no. 1 in cambridge, mass last night. hands down one of the best shows/line ups all year. major stars with sunburned laying out fuzzy warm-up. totally recommend catching konono on this tour, plus they are from the congo when are you going to see them again!?

Saw them last year too in this small restuarant/bar in London. Sheer excellence.

I saw them last year, but didn't go when they were here just recently.
I enjoyed the show when I saw them, but it was REALLY long and if you don't dance (which I don't), you get the point fairly quickly. I do think they're well worth seeing though.
Plus, the place they play when they come here is a "cultural center" and it's about 25 bucks to get in, which I didn't really have to spare when they came through last.

yea it was a steep ticket here last night and $$$ is tight. i didnt know if i was going to go until i got word from the sunburned crew that i was on the guest list. however i am very grateful for them putting me on there because it was well worth it.
the thing is i am not even a dancer at shows either, but man they really make you dance even if you dont want to... completely hypnotic!

Yes!! I'm seeing Konono N°1 Saturday evening at Sfinks festival in Antwerp, Belgium. Sfinks is this world music festival and I'm very pleased they put Konono N°1 on their program this year.

I've seen them play on Saturday night and I can say I've never seen something that repetitive and hypnotic as that ! They played one groove for +/- 40 minutes! The crowd went crazy.

Highly recommended!

i actually bought Assume Crash Position at the concert yesterday and yeah, it's really good. Better than Congotronics, which was already very good!
