Is anyone going to this festival? I might if I can get off work.
Mainly, I was wondering about some of these bands - do you know and like any of them? Some seem rather obscure. I think it will be worth checking out for that reason alone. http://www.matchitehew.com June 5&6 2009 - Chicago MARBLEBOG (Hungary) MONARQUE (Quebec) BLOODYMINDED (Chicago) SWORD HEAVEN (Ohio) VELNIAS (Chicago) OAKEATER (Chicago) SILVUM (Fairfax, VA) DEAD TIMES (Providence, RI) HEATDEATH (Minneapolis, MN) TAKE UP SERPENTS (San Francisco, CA) KRIEG (New Jersey) BONE AWL (California) RUSTED SHUT (Houston, TX) AIR CONDITIONING (Allentown, PA) ABORTED CHRIST CHILDE (New York/ Chicago) ASHDAUTAS (Long Beach, CA) VOLAHN (California) MALEDICERE (Minneapolis, MN) LOCRIAN (Chicago) WORMSBLOOD (Madison, WI) BURIAL HEX (Madison, WI) |

when I first read this thread, the text was all black.
now, it's all white. I like to think it's Gawd's way of saying (s)He loves everybody, even black metal bands. I'm not so forgiving. |

Yeah, I was curious about the MN bands. Also never heard of Dead Times.
I like Sword Heaven, Air Conditioning, Rusted Shut is great! And Bone Awl, I'm excited to hear Ashdautas though someone told me they are a joke band. I don't believe that. Marblebog is also pretty good, very rare appearance. I think I'm more into the noise side than the black metal aspect of it though. Going to take the plunge and get tickets later today. Might as well. |

Rusted Shut "REHAB" is so FUCKING AMAZING! I love that band.
Also, Aborted Christ Childe is this reunion of Nondor Nevai and this other Chicago creep, their first show since the early 2000s or something. Total weirdos, google them. The first nights seems more serious, the second, fun and wild. It's all ages too, at some art space. Should be a weird scene. |

Check out the Hot Sex 12" and the Aryan Asshole lathe, also awesome.
They have a new full length coming out too. They are pretty much everything good about reagan era-hardcore, no-fi black metal, dirge-y sludge, harsh noise, and free abstracion I've ever heard. A band made for people into extreme shit.

That lathe is too expensive, but maybe eventually. The rule. Totally TEXAS. I'm probably most excited about them. Though I know they might not play anything like their albums. Regardless, should be fun. Air Conditioning and Sword Heaven are also great. LOAD is a smart record label.

They've gotten smarter, with releasing stuff "Dead Rails", "Entrance", "Saw a Halo", the Mudboy stuff, just more interesting stuff. There was a period when they would seemingly release anything as long as the band wore masks, played out of tune, and wore masks.
