'' The book begins in 2011, with Gordon looking out at the audience in São Paulo during Sonic Youth’s last ever concert.''. She's an idiot, obviously.

''It’s telling that in this passage Gordon actually describes two cliches: the other is a contemporary rendition of a fairytale, the idealised marriage where two creative minds produce art and children in an atmosphere of gender equality and intellectual fulfilment.''

ddidnt think it was a terrible review, altho it reads like shes jealous of kim and thus the "cliche" lines.
kims comment about the 1990s compared to now - so utterly true! it seems like the early 90s were the LAST period in which experimental(ish) and quality rock music was able to reach out. hard to cope with the utter kick in the guts that has been the subsequent years. what pisses me off about this is that there are no kim gordons or debbie and belindas building upon the legacy of noise pop and making a mainstream-ish career out of it anymore. thats whats sad. instead of grrl style revolution we have - what? adele or some other 1950s revivalist - and any move or statement someone like kim would make would be torn to shreds by misogynist males who want to tell her what to do and say, and explain what she's allowed to do and say and probably not even realize what assholes they are being. also - people are interested in kim and going to be extra invasive towards her because of the absolute rarity of what she was actually able to do. jealously comes into play. she actually lived what is for most people a highly prized dream that will never happen and when you cant deal with the fact it didnt happen to you, you can look for scapegoats. if you actually listen to mainstream music which i dont advise you get the most gender fascistic bullshit - women singing songs of slavish, stupefied adoration for men and their power. most of the shit i hear is like this: woman sings about how her identity has been totally transformed by delightful submission to male woman desperately flatters him attempt by the lyrics to somehow meld this with capital and success womans identity is confirmed by man, woman is repersonalized through submission to male sexuality its pathetic and desperate and its trying to provide a cheap and stupid backround hallucination for what people imagine their identities are or could be - it all gestures towards getting rich through being a selfish consumer in a relationship its all about subjectively positioning people to give them little sensations of omnipotence, and its cruel and stupid and always musically and lyrically dire. anyway, thats my impression of the mainstream female music i hear in the backround as i go about my life. this conservative horseshit is not only poison for the ears and soul, it tunes out and destroys the possibility of anything thats not as bad as it getting anywhere. so yeah. its a goddamn shame that things ended this way for sy and for all of us. |

love me like you do! just be submissive and polite enough and the recession will end and men will stop taking it out on you! make sure to consume all the media feeding off this crap with the right cynical scorn and bitchy distaste because you don't really believe in this stuff, do you. its so stupid! thats right. idiots. yeah. fuck this shit, ISIS may as well win if this is as decadent and strange as kuffar culture can actually get anymore. |
