Anyone read this article on The Guardian today? Cheeta is apparently one of the last survivors of Hollywood's golden age and 76 years old, now (wow!). He is the oldest recorded non-human primate and is addicted to cigars and booze, a fine exponent of apeism painting and a retired superstar.
Date of Birth 9 April 1932 Height 4' (1.22 m) Trivia Holds the Guinness World Record as the world's oldest chimpanzee. Where Are They Now (2003) Retired at the C.H.E.E.T.A. Primate Foundation in Palm Springs, California. He also does abstract paintings, which the Foundation sells to raise funds. (April 2006) Now retired, he lives at the C.H.E.E.T.A. Primate Sanctuary in Palm Springs. (April 2006) Celebrated his 74th birthday at his Palm Springs home, The Cheeta Primate Foundation which was set up by owner Dan Westfall 14 years ago, with a sugar-free cake and cans of diet Coke because he is diabetic. http://film.guardian.co.uk/news/stor...247275,00.html |

Cool. In other recent animals news ---->
Honour sought for 'Soldier Bear' A campaign has been launched to build a permanent memorial to a bear which spent much of its life in Scotland - after fighting in World War II. The bear - named Voytek - was adopted in the Middle East by Polish troops in 1943, becoming much more than a mascot. He liked a cigarette, he liked a bottle of beer - he drank a bottle of beer like any man http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/...nd/7208505.stm
