Which also is true... In a sense... I suspect it's the 'legendary artist's consistency syndrome' which also afflicts Sonic Youth, if Pitchfork were to be believed. In other words; expectations are high and patience is low and musical ears everywhere feel shortchanged when something is not the Second Coming (which reminds me of the Stone Roses... but that's a different story). It's true we expect more from Aphex Twin, but I think in the end, he's the sort of artist who wouldn't be buggered by what we expect. Which is exactly part of his appeal. And I loved drukqs, by the way.

aphex twin is cool, he sleeps upside down in a bat cave for 2 hours a night and lives on oats and wheat and shit.

I think he used to live with his parents until he was like, 28, or something.

Well, as long as he doesn't try to live in my bat cave, them aight.
I just really started getting into him recently. I've heard RDJ and selected ambient workd vol1/ I think both are fuckin great, changed my veiws on electronic music. Before it was either techno or boring.

Although we respectfully disagree (Sonic Youth's NYC Ghosts & Flowers is clearly the worst album of all time) -Pitchfork (hahahah!) Alberto Balsalm is so good. The only two tracks I never listen to are Come on you slags, and Start as you mean to go on. They just have such awful beats but Start has such a cool melody in the background. Makes me wish I could just get rid of the beats
Mookid, Next Heap With, Cow cud, Waxen Pith, Wax the nip, and Avid Acred Jam shred are all amazing as well. Mookid is crazy when you listen to Wet Tip Hen Ax right before it. With albums like this I don't usually listen to them in order, I listen to ICBYD backwards alot |
