There's a decent coffee place just a few doors along from me. They can't make toasted sandwiches for shit but the coffee's good and It's close enough for me to drink it at home. What's more, the woman working there looks like Maria Sharapova. Which is nice.

There's too streets in my town that has a string of cafes and other shops on them that are popular. One's more alternative whilst the other is similar but more dirty. There's a good independent cd store on the latter that sell secondhand cds, alittle pricey but still fun to look through. Although I probably prefer the first street which have a few cafes which I fancy. Definitely no Starbucks or Gloria Jeans for me.

i quit drinking coffee a few months ago; i feel better than ever. i miss the coffee ritual but i now have taken up the brewing of herbal potions, which are equally interesting and not as addictive.

when i drank coffee though, i used to love the coffee bar at kramerbooks in dc. no exactly a coffee bar, but a bar with an espresso machine--inside a bookstore!

in albuquerque, satellite (a local chain) is nice.

my drink of choice: double americano with 1/2 the water, strong and short, but long enough for a couple of cigarettes.

ah, good times.

My love just handed me a perculated coffee. NICE.

If I had to resort to Starbucks or Gloria Jeans, I'd soon as stay at home and make a coffee.

oh i forgot to mention-- in tel-aviv, as moshe mentioned in another thread, there are many wonderful coffee shops. my favorite one was, oh, one near dizengoff in north tel-aviv, in a cross street near the magen david adom, there was this hungarian pastry maker. oh yeah.

then there was another coffee shop with a tree inside, on allenby street. i only went there was but it was cool.

oh, wonderful stuff.

That place looks very similar to places here but none that actually have coffee or beverages of the kind. Looks cool.

ps- correction:

the coffee shop in tel-aviv was in sheinkin, not allenby

(that's sheinkin street, i love it)

and judging at the street map i saw, the othe coffee shop i think was in Basel St.

That place with the tree is a pizzeria now--It was my favorite "first date" place and they had a great Lasagna. That cool record store right next to it moved to Dizengoff st.

Ok, I hate coffee, and this place is quite suspect, but during the day (its more of a bar; whatever) they serve as a coffee house, at least you come across some interesting people from Omaha or just passing through, usually the latter.. Anyway, The Nomad Lounge

The Fruitful Grounds is a nice coffee place by my school. Coffee of the People is another acclaimed joint. But personally, I'd rather home brew. Those places are pricey.

I go to a place called LuLu Beans in Willmar and I usually go to Dunn Brothers or Borders when I'm in the cities.

Bridgehead is by far my favorite. They have all fair trade, shade-grown coffee, prices as low as tim hortons, free internet access, and you can buy beans there, and collect "bridgehead points" on your "bridgehead card" to get free coffee. Fuck yes.

Cafe Complexe is my second choice. They just started out and are located in my hometown, and run by people that I know. They don't seem to get too too much business, and it's the closest to me, so I go there every once in a while

Moca Loca is my third choice, they're a small local shop that hangs art on the walls that are for sale. The shop only serves 1 fair trade coffee though, so it limits my selection down to the 1, and they're pretty expensive.

Why is coffee shop coffee nearly always so much better than coffee at home? We buy fresh beans, grind them ourselves, and use a pretty good Bunn coffee maker. But it's just not ever quite as strong tasting and flavorful. Very good, mind you, just not coffee house level.
