Well, I wouldn't say Herzog and Kinski had a 'horrible' relationship as such. I think there was a lot of respect and love between them even. Seems like more of a tempestuous marriage than anything.

I must read Kinskis autobiography at some point. Herzog mentions it in the film at one point and, of course, claims it is largely ficticious.

kinski looks like a girl, ha ha. his daughter is way way hot though. oh you guys ever seen "tess"? that's a polanski film actually. filmed in france though so it doesn't qualify for this thread, but what a beauty.

Check out this boxset of Herzog documentaries.....only available through his site though and not cheap @ 150 euros. You get a fair bit for your cash though.

one of the dvds from that boxset is available in greencine believe.

but that price just calls for outright piracy.

If you choose to open the booklet, it looks like you can play some of the stuff online.

It's a bit pricy though, yes.

So I checked the number of movies estimated to be in their catalogue, and it said "over 25,000" while Netflix claims 60,000 of their own. So my question is, do you know if Netflix just has 60,000 movies because most of it is total crap (or maybe when one movie has an extra disc of bonus features, Netflix then counts that as two movies)? Because after browsing through that greencine website, it does seem as if it is better than Netflix. And it would seem like greencine would have more movies because they say they have more anime that any other site, and plus they have adult videos. So the numbers just don't make sense to me.

I was also thinking that maybe Netflix counts those movies that are unavailable (like the Nick Zedd collection) as being a part of their catalogue, even though I highly doubt they will ever offer them for rental.

how could i have skipped this! greencine of course rules for arthouse & obscure movies, cult & all sorts of wonders. i HAVE to have it since we live in a hellhole of a town.

btw, chabib is a member too, ha ha. he's got some lists of recommendations there (im pretty sure it's him).

A History of German Cinema. Looks decent, not exactly exhaustive, but I haven't read it all yet.
