Bon Dia!
I'm new to barcelona and i'll be here for 8 months teaching english so I wanted to ask you guys some stuff if you don't mind. 1. do you know of any good record stores? 2. where is there a place to catch good local music? 3. is there any sort of place, like an open mic situation, where people can play a few songs without a proper booking? 4. umm, are any of you musicians? 5. can you tell me of any cool places to go (barring all the touristy; la rambla, familia sagrada, and that type stuff) i have already done that and am looking for some things that are a little of the beaten path. 6. do any of you skateboard? this place is ridiculous with the amount of spots it has! moltes gràcies! hehe, ive pretty much exusted my catalan with those 3 phrases. |

this will happen in Barcelona by the end of this month
http://www.last.fm/festival/2051870+...smica+Festival I just got curious because of Bardo Pond and Acid Mothers TEmple playing there. But as only four bands will be playing, I think I won't make it to Barcelona. |

I still can't understand what's the big fuss about Bardo Pond live. I saw them on ATP last year (or two years ago?) and they bored me to death. On the records they're awesome but live ... I don't really know.

i haven't seen them live yet, but I can hardly imagine they have the ability to bore me.

I don't think ATP is the best platform for them, but I can't imagine being bored by them, live is when they really hit it. However, they don't gig much anymore, so maybe they were off? This is the biggest tour they've done in years. They all have jobs and can't get time off, so maybe something changed. Looks like this will be the first year since 97 I won't see them play at least once. I tried in April, took the train to Philly but the band before them blew out the electrical system. I'm looking into working out of our Barcelona office. I need a change from NYC and anywhere else in the US is a step down. |
