When I saw him billed as just "Chris Corsano" it was just him and his drum kit. But whatever you do, don't think that sounds boring - it's anything but. The guy is a percussion genius.
I would link you to some youtube footage, but if you already know what to expect, your mind won't be quite so blown. |

just from seeing cosano's technique if he took away the cymbals etc that he was placing on the heads, it would make a killer rock solo, but that is not what this type of music is about. his sticking technique is very very good. this is not just some dude hitting some drums |

but it doesnt even sound good
it just sounds like some dude bashing drums im sorry, i did look into multiple videos of this guy hoping to like him, i even told my brother who is a drummer to come watch as i searched for videos of this amazing drummer...but it just bores me to shit like i get it..i get the whole hit things and hit a bell..then a tish..then quick smash of the kit but it just doesnt sound good to my ears, reminds me of when my nephew gets on the drums with that said, i am still considering catching his show just incase the you tube videos arent showing off what he is really like.

Chris is a phenominal drummer, period plus a super nice guy of whom i've heard to pleasure in seeing perform and talk to several times over the years... he is considered one of the best young talents of improv/jazz drummers around today to say the least and thats not just coming from fans, or critics its also his collegues and collaborators such as Joe Mcphee, Evan Parker, Paul Flaherty, Thurston Moore, Bjork, Ben Chasney, Nels Cline... etc etc. To my ears his
Believe me this ain't some idiot bashing on drums... because the musicians mentioned above don't just play with anyone. |

please don't make an opinion based off of youtube videos... most you tube videos are usually of such quality that it doesn't do anyone or anything much justice.

He's very likely there with Bjork, yes, playing solo shows on the nights off. He's really amazing, but I tend to agree with hat and beard that it seems like you might as well save yourself the 600km or so that you're away from Fremantle... unless you'll be in Perth anyway that weekend... your loss though.
Halfway on topic, I saw this Dream/Aktion Unit video from Den Haag a few days ago, just in case it wasn't posted before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEGN-b0Wb54 |
