Go to Wikipedia and do a search for 'List of songs about'. I might do a '10 Songs about Birmingham, Alabama' poll.
Perhaps you happen to know that one or two of these songs aren't about fictitious bands a all? Don't blame me! Instead, please enlighten us as to the facts, so that we can know the truth and moan to Wikipedia.

'Down on the Corner' is terrific, and just about beats 'Alexander's Ragtime Band' for my vote.

You're cooking on gas now, HP.
This one requires a bit of thought. ...I've thought about it. Has to be one of the CCR songs, and I'll go for Willy & The Poor Boys. EDIT: You beat me to it! |

It's a strong selection of tracks, I think. That said, I've never heard of "The Sinful Ensemble" by Skyclad. I just like the title.

It's a song I loved when I was a kid but rarely, if at all, listen to these days. It's one of my least favourite too, I'd say.

They're responsible for my present love of music. |

Wilco's "The Late Greats" should be on there too.
I can't believe there's no love for Uncle John's Band, but I guess I can't talk. I voted Mr. Tamborine Man. |

The ultimate fear of the SY forum pollmaker is the Sisyphusesque nightmare that he shall have to spend his entire life repeating the phrase 'you only get to put ten options in a poll'.
