I love Gang of Four. I bought Entertainment about two months ago. Ether, Antharx, and all of the rest is really good. I plan on ordering their other stuff soon.

Rats has a sort of Gang of Four bass and drums beat. Kim Gordon says the same thing in a magazine article.

It's one of the best albums of its era and beyond. To my ears, it presages what Fugazi did, the tight push-and-pull instrumental exchanges coupled with political lyrics. Entertainment! is truly one of the best pieces of rock/punk/post-punk music ever.

I love Gang of Four - I was gonna make a thread about them eventually.
Ha Check this video from their 'pop' period! I love this song though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l99AH4zTIM I love the rerecording of I Love A Man In Uniform on the new cd! It's a nice contrast to the old version. |

I love Gang of Four. One of my all time favorites. I saw them at Mr. Smalls Funhouse last year and they were amazing.

I skipped 'em when they came through town, to my regret. I assume they stick with the earlier material, or would they bust out later stuff?

One of the best post-punk bands. Really inventive. I heard their reunion tour was going well.

They have a new album coming out soon, too. I can't wait to hear. I love how all these great bands are reuniting recently. It's about time. I chalk it up to a huge response to all the crappy alternative and indie rock that is making it so big right now with dumb, uninformed teenagers across America. They think they know what good rock music is until they hear something like Gang of Four and it just shuts them up.

Fans of GOF should go check out the new Marie Antoinette trailer (the teaser as well I guess, but the longer trailer is what pertains here.) Enjoy - I know I love hearing my favorite bands in various, unexpected formats.

I've seen the new trailor for that movie. I think it will be quite good. Sophia Coppola is a very talented director. I've never placed much stock in Kirsten Dunst as an actress (she's ok, but not spectacular), but I think this could be a great role for her. And Jason Schwartzman is very talented too. I like the fact that they will not be too sumbersed into the 18th century period by incorporating modern rock music into the film. Very creative idea. Can't wait to see it.
