Watch it at YouTube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-X-fDqQ-Xcc We all know Bush doesn't do nuance, especially not in close midterm elections. The paid political ad is garnering criticism by those comparing it to the LBJ "Daisy" ad which only aired once due to its controversial nature and which used the exact same phrase, "these are the stakes," only concerning a presumed impending nuclear war with the (then) communist Soviet Union (Russia). A ticking sound reminiscent of a bomb timer grows progressively louder until the last repeated phrase ("What is yet to come will be even greater") is shown, followed by the sound of a beating heart, fleeting images of explosions and terrorists in training, and ending with the message "These Are The Stakes. Vote Nov. 7."

There's nothing to fear but fear itself.
I'm worried that this sort of propaganda will convince many Americans to believe, that they're not safe in their own homes. The republicans might just get what they want... 4 more years.

I don't think this strategy is going to work this time around. Moderate conservatives around the country are finally splitting with the neocons. The question is will they go to Democratic candidates or third parties?

If they split? Then I would think third parties.

Word is they will stage or provoke a battle with Iran...once Iran blows up a aircraft carrier - either staged by mossad/cia or in self defense - and Iran does have the capability - why they could even cancel the election due to terror concerns.
"A phantom attack on two U.S. destroyers cruising the Gulf of Tonkin was staged by the Pentagon and the C.I.A. The bogus attack occurred early in August, 1964. That evening President Lyndon Johnson went on television giving the grim details of the non-attack. Later, however, it was revealed that navy commander James Stockdale flew cover over the Gulf of Tonkin that night. Stockdale disclosed that U.S. ships were firing at phantom targets—targets that didn’t exist. The Gulf of Tonkin Incident that drew the U.S. into the quagmire of Viet Nam simply didn’t happen. Johnson, as presidents so often do, lied to the American people. The result was the rapid passage of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which was the sole legal basis for the Viet Nam War. As a result of Johnson’s lie, three million Vietnamese people and fifty eight thousand U.S. soldiers died." (Charles Sullivan, Global Research, January 2006) |

it's hard to imagine something not coming our way in terms of a Karl Rove surprise. BUT I think that their party is so divided right now, deep in the inner circles, whereby they are just holding their breath and hoping that no one else from their side reveals any more corruption...and there's so much of it that its testing some people's personal ethics.

Keith Olberman's response just about sums up how I feel about it..but he's waaaay too polite! You might want to have a look at the new Democrat ad 'Stay the Course' http://www.democrats.org/staythecoursead

that Democrat ad shows exactly why they lost last time around. All they're going on is that Bush is bad. They say they are the alternative, but what the hell do they stand for?
Now is the chance for Democrats to unify and make a decision about what they stand for. If they can do that, they will win. |

Some part of your brain is retarded. It doesn't work that way. And thank Heavens that's the case, because representation equals liberty, or at least it should. It certainly would at least if there weren't teeming masses of people like yourself that were too spoiled, lazy, ignorant and/or apathetic to give a damn.
