Sonic Boom: The Art of Sound

Sonic Boom was an exhibition of sound art curated by musician and writer David Toop that ran at the Hayward Gallery in London in 2000.

Accompanying the exhibition was a cracking little book about the artists alongside a double cd featuring work by those featured. The exhibition was a fascinating achievement and the book was a diverting read but it's the cds that keep drawing me back. Showcasing work by Scanner, Lee Ranaldo, Pan Sonic, Christian Marclay, Philip Jeck, Brian Eno and a whole host more (see here for the complete tracklist) it is a fine release deserving of far more attention that it ever got without being released in it's own right.
