This is sort of like an endless march. The things we thought were insane and ahead of their time culturally will be boring and blase years later. It seems to happen faster nowadays. But still, they aren't playing "Death Trip" or "LA Blues" on commercials. I love the stooges, but culture moves forward. And doesn't everyone from Lady Gaga to Madonna at least pretend to like the stooges? Sonic Youth is next, not that I'm saying they'll be in jean ads, but that everyone in their mother in the indie crowd pretends to like sonic youth even when they've probably listened to half of Daydream Nation at best. Is it pathetic? Yeah. Is it surprising? No.

Um, no it's not. I really hope you don't believe that because it would be incredibly dumb. Music was being made before CDs, before jewel cases, before booklets, before it could be recorded, before there were even musical instruments. It was the first type of art humans made. That's why it's the most important.
And that's why it pisses me off that people like you are happy to cheapen it.
