Loop - Collision (EP) & Black Sun (EP)

I always preferred Loop to the Spacemen 3 though both dealt in repetitive guitar noise. Loop were more visceral I felt and less studied or 'put-on' in their delivery. They were formed in London in 1986 by Robert Hampson and his wife Bex and existed for an all-too-brief 5 years.

Anyway, I give you their two 1988 EP's 'Collision' and 'Black Sun' - both Indie classics I feel. 'Collision' features the song 'Thief Of Fire' which was originally recorded by The Pop Group and released on their 1979 album 'Y'. Similarly, 'Black Sun' features another cover. This time it is 'Mother Sky' originally recorded by Can on their 'Soundtracks' album of 1970.

So, skin up, sit back and let the waves of guitar wash over you.....
