Right.
The music in that ad isn't really much different than a lot of movie/game soundtrack albums (see: the films of David Lynch... see Silent Hill soundtracks... etc). People are aware of those sounds already, and I highly doubt it's really going to become some new trend because of some obscure Swedish Jeans commercial with a drone and some weird piano knocking around.
It's not even really representative of Merzbow or Sunn's overall sound, either. I wonder if Sunn or Merzbow sell any records because of this ad? (probably not)
Also, Merzbow existed 30 years ago, with those punk bands you mentioned, Rob... Just sayin'. This commercial isn't going to change shit. Still pretty cool though.
