I've been shaken by this severely all day. Alex wrote songs I wished I could have had the ability to write. Sister Lovers is the best Velvets third album influenced record ever and genius in it's own right. Live in London is a brilliant fucking noise rock album years before the genre came into being. He was arguably my favorite pop song writer in many ways, not to mention the garage rock stuff he did with the Cramps and Panther Burns.

I'd been religiously listening to a comp of his best songs all week long, so the news struck doubly hard. My ex who'd been in the car yesterday when I was playing it texted me the news this morning all weirded out.

First Lux, now Alex. Such a sad recent stretch for rock music.
