I've always found on trips to the Great White North, that Canadians are more apt to strike up a conversation with you, and tend to be more friendly compared to Americans. Americans (or maybe it was just us New Yorkers) have a more "leave me alone, don't make eye contact, don't engage anyone" attitude. From my own personal experiences, of course.
