to start with night time is easier i did these during the day so my settings are a bit different to what they would be at night. f22 with my polariser (2 stops equiv) and nd filters (about 6 equivalent) so theoretically approx f30. was a 30 second exposure and i used my little 3 led work torch beam pointing towards the lens. there is some fucking increible stuff on flickr with light painting such as this from

light stenciling is something i really wanna try... on a side note if anyone has the sy stencils that used to be up on the website but no longer are i would really love them so i can try and do this kind of thing with them.
