I'll apparently be the first to agree with the OP and say that I love Low, especially their really minimal stuff, like Things We Lost In The Fire.

And while I see the similarities between them and YLT (although I'd say you need to also throw in a little Pedro The Lion to match), I wouldn't consider them a "poor man's version." Low definately holds their own ground.
