Ditto. However, at this point, I think I'm just glad that Johnny Depp didn't get the role, because the man should not be allowed to play whoever he wants.
I don't really have any specific gripes about Johnny Depp, other than that he seems a bit boring and unfunny in real life, and he's prettier than me, and he's terribly overexposed. Yeah. Nothing specific. His acting is all right (at times really good, but mostly just all right), but it bothers me when he chooses roles on the basis that the character is "mysterious" and/or "shy/reserved." He's better in movies like Fear & Loathing and Ed Wood where it's more about a high-energy, over-the-top, funny performance and less about his perfect cheekbones. Stupid attractive face.
