inspired by the haino thread.
i'm going through a guitar improv phase at the moment, and i can't get enough of the man. i've just ordered some collaborations, (ruins, evan parker, hans bennick...) and the more i listen, the more i think how much of a complete and utter genius he was. i mean, the sounds he can get from sitting on a stool with nothing but an acoustic guitar is phenomenal. it's the sort of stuff many guitarists spend hundreds of pounds on effects to achieve. complete sonic mastery.
one of the most amazing improv records i have ever heard is "Viper" by Bailey and Chinese Pipa player Min Xiao Fen.
it is mind blowing.
whaddya think??
