if there is any threat it would be a device not delivered by a missile, and more likely shipped by a container ship to a port city, or the proliferation of the technology to a radical islamic state

The Taepadong 2 missile has a 5,000-6000 km range, and George Tenet (who may not be the best source on this since he also said there were WMD in Iraq) said that with a light payload, the west coast could be hit, but with low accuracy.
BTW, I was just looking at Tenet's wikipedia profile, and apparently he went to high school with Ron Jeremy. Small world isn't it?
