Yves Tumor - Praise A Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume
I really liked YT's new album first, but now after several listens, I downright LOVE it. It treads a perfect line between sleek, poppy production and experimental, genre-bending touches. "God Is A Circle" is a pounding, dark toetapper, "Lovely Sewer" a heartfelt lo-fi tinged 80s Synthpop homage, "Heaven Surrounds Us Like A Hood" has such an impressive and diverse structure (and an absolutely ethereal guitar break), "Operator" sounds like Prince if he had a thing for pronounced Post-Punk bass riffs and "Echolalia" has a circular, bouncy quality to it that is just a lot of fun to listen to. And those are just a few of the standouts. This piece sounds both very modern, but also has a lot of reverence for its many influences. It's a wonderful collage.
