Thing is, you don't even need to believe in "American exceptionalism" (as in THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD! 'CAUSE WE HAVE, LIKE, UH... FREEDUMB!) to understand that the United States, kinda like government itself (oh, the irony) and despite its history of brutal imperialism, can be an engine for positive things to happen worldwide - in many areas, because of its size and might, the engine. But the fucking place tanked. Isolationism is stupid in the first place; isolationism plus willful ignorance is the fast track to decadence, and four years ago we KNEW the decadent model that was being sold by Dotard J Turd and gaining traction like the coronavirus wouldn't be able to deal with a catastrophe. The international community would be awfully innocent to expect something rational, collaborative and decisive from the U.S. until the country reboots itself somehow, which is a long goddamn shot, because even if Biden wins, half the country will still be LIBERATE VIRGINIA! and give him the same brick wall of hyperstasis his boss had to fight when he was V.P.
