the whole point of the show tho was that the characters are basically pieces of shit. also according to the hardcore fans there are clues all over the show to lead us to conclude that in the end they are all killed (including tony) by an a syndicate called the vipers.

so basically the moral is that if you go down the route of murder business you will simply end up being murdered by someone more ruthless than you. all the attachments you try and maintain with your family and friends will be impossible and end up ruined.

in fact it implies that you can't compartmentalize your life so in business you are a ruthless killer, but all to provide for the family you are a caring husband and father for.

so actually its in a way a weird kind of nostalgia for an older time when we had a less ruthlessly instrumental and nihilist crime culture!

but hell i havent seen it all and mainly just watched youtube clips and a few episodes so far so i dont really know.

the best movie on this subject is delillo/cronenbergs cosmopolis which is all about the trade off between capital and the human body.
