I personally haven't heard anything new about Lee's next album. Hopefully it will be better than some of his past material. I think it's strange how Lee is the most consistantly great songwriter in Sonic Youth, but when it comes to his solo records and side projects it can be wildly inconsistant. It can be genius or it can be terrible.
From Here --> Infinity was interesting sonically, but not really listenable where as
East Jesus,
Scriptures of the Golden Eternity and
Amarillo Ramp (for Robert Smithson) were far more interesting. His collaborations have been pretty successful, too.
Oasis of Whispers and
Four Guitars Live were pretty cool.
