Short and sweet: wad
Since hearing Longmont Potion Castle use it many times for describing various things, it's been adopted into my regular-use lexicon.
"We should go out and get a nice big wad of pasta"
"Lets put a wad of ketchup on it"
"Yesterday she was gorgeous, today she looked like a wad of shit"
It's all-purpose!
