- Dick Rossimi
- Ben Reynolds
- Voice of the Seven Woods
- Peter Lang
- Loren Mazzacane Connors
- Jack Rose
- John Fahey, the king
- Leo Kottke
- Wooden Spoon
- Pat O'Connell
- Andrew Stranglen
- Terry Robb
- Dale Miller
- Tetsui Akiyama
- Michael Gulezian
- Sandy Bull

- Triple Burner
- Steffen Basho-Junghans
- George Stavis
- Bob Hadley
- Wayne Lopes
- Davey Graham
- Bob Brozman
- Voice of the Seven Woods
- Bert Jansch

- Wooden Wand
- Vashti Bunyan
- Fire on Fire (avant-bluegrass -- highly reccomended)
- Fairport Convention
- Sir Richard Bishop
- Alvarius B (Blood Operatives is probably my favorite "folk" album ever made)
- Espers

Favorite folk artist ever is probably Japanese acid-folk genius Kazuki Tomokawa.

Plenty of blogs, like Grown So Ugly, are dedicated pretty much exclusively to stuff like this, check em out. Lots of great stuff out there.

Best way to find threads for acoustic guitar music -- on any forum, really -- is to search for the word "Fahey". I highly reccomend going to his last.fm and checking out the similiar artists, that's how I found everything I just mentioned, pretty much.
