Besides being the definitive and essential compilation of the legend's creative output, the album also stands as a classic among all compilation albums of its kind. Everything is well executed here, from the logical chronology of the song listings to the packaging (what could be more appropriate to the era, the man, and the music than those honky-tonkin' musical notes against a bright yellow background?) and the historically detailed liner notes. Authentic as a Friday night dance crowd clearing the floor for the skunk the town drunk let in, or something like that. Damned good, damned authentic stuff, especially if'n you can get it on vinyl.
