In 1970, in a little town (Byron) in the same county (Peach) I spent the latter part of my youth in, was a festival called the Atlanta Pop Festival. It was originally supposed to be in Atlanta, but they figured the seclusion of Byron (it's still somewhat of a rural environment, but not like it was back then) might make a better place for the huge event. I know a few people that claimed to have been there, and apparently it was fantastic. + oddly enough, the event took place on a now defunct racetrack that happens to be across the street from where my HS girly lived. It's surrounded by a fence, but we used to jump it and walk around out there. Interesting place...kinda eerie w/ weeds growing up through the decrepit asphalt racetrack.

Jimi played, Captain Beefheart, Allman Brothers Band (not too big of a deal, being that they were from Macon, about 20 something odd miles north), B.B. King, some other creeps.

Anyways, there are rumors video of the ABB performance may be released before (never before seen by the general public) long...

but beyond that, I found some cool footage of Jimi's performance. Totally spectacular!

Ten songs total, they are all on youtube if anyone is interested.
