something interesting I noticed in the book last night:
In the official discography of SY releases in the book (which even includes the Official bootlegs like Walls and Blastic Scene) the band includes SYR5 as a Sonic Youth release. Why I find this so interesting is because they do not include albums like Melbourne Direct or Without Kim. It's just interesting to me that SYR5 seems to be the one "side-project" that they feel is part of the SY-band cannon.
