Posting Habits

I have just realized that I am second only to marleypumpkin in number of posts on the new board.

Good god, what is wrong with me? Why didn't anyone TELL me I was posting this prolifically?

Work is the worst - literally, I'm quite sure I've done a day's worth of work in the past three weeks.

By the way, I'm well aware of the irony in creating a new thread on this topic.

So, to make this relevant to everyone else, do certain posting habits irritate you? i.e. people who post frequently, people who post a lot of photos, people who post irrelevant comments, people who start silly threads (again, I'm aware of the irony)...?

Savage Clone 04.16.2006 10:27 AM

Signatures kinda bug me, but finding the sig block function took that away.

Posts that bug me, or rather, I don't understand: uninformative answers to questions.

An example, to clarify: A thread asking, "Has anyone seen Movie X?" which, I assume, is meant to encourage discussion on said movie.

Poster: Yeah, I saw that.

Thanks for that contribution. Was that really worth the effort you took to type it? I suppose I just don't see why one would bother with a post that isn't furthering that dialogue.

*Please keep in mind when I'm posting various opinions that I'm an asshole. I am unfair, hypercritical, hypocritical, rude, irritable, and generally unpleasant. Feel free to point these things out, but I assure you I am quite aware of them.

TheDom 04.16.2006 10:45 AM

Yeah, I know what you mean.

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 04.16.2006 10:51 AM

We all post differently here. Honestly though I dont see how you have that much posts already. I don't see you in all that much threads,

Savage Clone 04.16.2006 10:52 AM

I have been guilty of this many times, but just listing off titles in a "what are you listening to" or a "recommend me some music" thread isn't always helpful when there's no info about what it sounds like, your reactions to it, etc.

I am as guilty of this as anyone, and will try a little harder in the future.

That's not exactly what I'm talking about - I didn't articulate it well, and I can't really find any examples.

Hold on, lemme look.

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 04.16.2006 11:00 AM

I have one out there in the neil young thread.

"cool."

truncated 04.16.2006 11:04 AM

Haha, maybe that qualifies.

But typically, it's the same people that post in that manner. You don't fall under that category.

I don't know how I got that many posts either, I think chabib keeps altering my account to make me look bad.

Ooh, example of pointless threads: one I started last week I think, "Help me lose my job." I mean, seriously. Who the fuck cares? I must've really plunged into the depths of boredom.

People like me piss me off.

A Thousand Threads 04.16.2006 11:07 AM

Fuck all the people who always use "fuck" and "fucking".
I fucking can´t stand those fuckers.

well,
i´m not funny
that´s my habbit

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 04.16.2006 11:09 AM

fuck is a great word.

The chabib thing is true to an extent - I'm sure I have my moments, but I didn't get THAT many negative rep points from posters.

Another question of curiousity: does anyone actually have the balls to deduct rep points from someone?

Gulasch Noir 04.16.2006 11:09 AM

not funny, but Donaufestival though?

Well, I just tried (since yesterday you told me "not to be a pussy"), but couldn't because I gave some rep points to you recently and have to "spread some rep around before giving it to you again."

Dammit.

(I do know someone who got points subtracted once though)
